Swift and Professional SIPA Intervention - Example of Successful International Police Cooperation

Acting upon the information of the German Federal Criminal Police (BKA), Province of Nordrhein-Westfalen, police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) located and arrested Lebanese citizen Bilal Chahrour in Sarajevo in October last year. An international warrant was issued for this individual for robbery after he escaped from the institution for execution of criminal sanctions in Germany.

SIPA, within its competence, reacted quickly, located the suspect and deprived him of liberty, after which he was handed over to the Court for further action and extradition and consequently to the competent authorities of Germany.

With regard to the above, the German police sent a letter of thanks to the Director of SIPA emphasising this as an excellent example of international police cooperation. "This is a warm thank you for the quick and professional assistance and extraordinary commitment of the members of your government body", the letter of thanks said, among other things.

SIPA is proud of the successful international police cooperation which resulted in apprehension of the wanted individual.

Police officials of SIPA cooperate on a daily basis with national and international institutions, which is essential to counter effectively the most serious security challenges of today.
