SIPA Deprived KK of Liberty and Prevented him from Departure to Syrian Front

This morning (6/5/2016), police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) acting upon orders of the Prosecutor’s Office B&H, apprehended the individual identified by initials KK (1976) from Sarajevo, in the area of Trebinje.

The individual was detained at the border crossing by police officials of the Border Police B&H after the individual had been returned from Montenegro, and then handed him over to the police officials of SIPA for further procedure.

The individual KK was deprived of liberty due to grounded suspicion of having committed the criminal offence under Article 162b of the CC BH Paragraph (2) „Unlawful Establishing

and Joining Foreign Paramilitary or Parapolice Formations”, in conjunction with Article 26 of the CC BH „”Attempt”. The individual is suspected of having departed from B&H with intention to join the terrorist organisation ISIL in Syria on 26/04/2016.

In the course of this investigation, significant international and national police cooperation was established, particularly with the Border Police B&H and relevant authorities of Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria, which resulted in apprehension of KK and prevention of the departure to Syrian battlefield.

Acting upon orders of the Court of BH, police officials of SIPA searched a residential building in the Sarajevo area used by the suspect, with the aim of finding and seizing objects that may serve as evidence in further proceedings.

The apprehended individual will be brought to the premises of SIPA for criminal processing, after which his further status will be decided upon the instructions of the acting Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office BH. SIPA will submit a report on the grounded suspicion of criminal offence against this individual to the Prosecutor's Office B&H.
