Meeting Held between B&H Police Agencies Directors and the Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Offi

Organised by the FB&H Police Administration, a coordination meeting was held in Neum between B&H police agencies Directors. The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of B&H and Directors of SIPA, Border Police, FB&H Police Administration, MIO of the Republic of Srpska, MIO of the Brčko District and the Commissioner of Sarajevo Canton MIO discussed the current issues related to the work and cooperation of police agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Prosecutor’s Office of B&H announced that the central topics of this conference were analyses of the activities of operational work groups dealing with organized crime detection, issues related to thefts of motor vehicles, and current issues related to narcotics smuggling in B&H.

A planned setup of the system for electronic information exchange from police registers, for the purpose of more efficient detection and tracking of perpetrators of criminal offences, was discussed as well.

The police agencies Directors also discussed the adoption of joint documents on the Code of Conduct of police officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as modalities of grading of police officials’ work within the B&H police agencies.

Apart from the police agencies Directors, the Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of B&H, Milorad Barašin, EUPM Commissioner Stefan Feller, and representatives of ICITAP and the Embassy of the United States also attended the Conference.

A letter of support for the coordination meetings, sent by the FBI Director, was read at the Conference and distributed to the police agencies Directors and representatives from ICITAP.

ICITAP is the US Department of Justice programme that has been cooperating and assisting the process of development of the B&H police agencies for 12 years.
