Five Persons Arrested, 4.5 kg of Drugs Found

Yesterday, March 17th, 2010, police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) conducted a large-scale police operation in Banjaluka, Istočno Sarajevo, Derventa and Šipovo that resulted in apprehension of five persons suspected of having committed the criminal offence under Article 250 of the Criminal Code of B&H (Organised Crime) in conjunction with the criminal offence under Article 195 of the CC B&H (Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs).

Seven housing and other units as well as several vehicles were searched within the police operation aiming at disruption of an organised crime group involved in international smuggling of narcotic drugs.

Over 4.5 kilograms of narcotic drugs heroin and skunk and 42.000,00 KM, possible proceeds of crime, several mobile phones and SIM cards as well as other items as potential evidence material were found and seized in the course of the operation.

Three persons were deprived of freedom during the night and were handed over to the Prosecutor's Office of B&H while two other persons were released.

The police officials of SIPA were assisted by members of the B&H Border Police and RS MoI.
