Crimestoppers in October: 426 Calls and 17 Useful Information

In October 2016, the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) police officials received 426 calls to the Crimestoppers hotline.

In this period, citizens submitted 17 useful information about planned or committed criminal offences and their perpetrators, based on which the same number of criminal intelligence reports was made. 

In addition, 64 reports were submitted via online crime reporting form out of which 7 were useful information about committed or planned criminal offences, based on which the same number of criminal intelligence reports were made.

The majority of information was related to criminal offences of unauthorised sale of narcotic drugs and unauthorised trafficking in weapons and military equipment. Out of the total number of information received through Crimestoppers and online reporting form, 24 were submitted to other competent police authorities for further action, while SIPA acted upon six reports. 

Within the reporting period, 25 feedback information were received from competent police and other authorities, which were mainly related to previous information obtained through the Crimestoppers or online crime reporting form. 

SIPA’s police officials gave 105 recommendations to the citizens who called anonymous and free of charge 080 020 505 – Crimestoppers hotline.
