Crimestoppers in March: 297 Calls and 37 Useful Information

In March 2015, the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) police officials registered 297 calls to the Crimestoppers phone number.

In this period, citizens submitted 37 useful information about planned or committed criminal offences and their perpetrators, based on which the same number of reports was made.

The majority of information referred to the criminal offences of Illicit Trafficking in Weapons and Abuse of Official Position or Authority.

Out of the total number of useful information, 37 of them, along with the reports, were forwarded for further processing to relevant police authorities in BH and SIPA acted upon four information.

Within this reporting period, 35 pieces of feedback were received from the relevant police authorities related to the information previously submitted via the Crimestoppers. Based on this information, eight misdemeanour charges were filed to the competent Prosecutor’s Offices.

In addition, SIPA’s police officials gave 106 recommendations to the citizens who contacted them via the anonymous and free Crime-Stoppers telephone number - 080 020 505

SIPA received a letter of thanks from the Indirect Taxation Authority for the information received through "Crimestoppers" in February, which resulted in the detection and seizure of certain amount of excise goods which was placed on the market without proper documentation and submission of a request to the competent court to initiate misdemeanour proceedings.
