Crimestoppers in July: 282 Calls and 17 Useful Information

The State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) police officials registered 282 calls to the Crimestoppers hotline in July 2015.

In this period, citizens submitted 17 useful information about planned or committed criminal offences and their perpetrators, based on which the same number of criminal intelligence reports was made.

In addition, 30 reports were submitted via online crime reporting form available on the SIPA web page since February this year, out of which 18 were useful information about committed or planned criminal offences, based on which the same number of criminal intelligence reports were made.

The majority of information was related to illicit trafficking in drugs and weapons. Out of the total number of information received via Crimestoppers and online form, 35 of them, along with the reports, were forwarded for further processing to relevant police authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and SIPA acted upon eight of them.

Within this reporting period, 23 pieces of feedback were received from the relevant police authorities related to the information previously submitted via the Crimestoppers or online crime reporting form. Based on this information, two reports on the criminal offence and perpetrator were submitted to the competent Prosecutor’s Office.

Moreover, SIPA’s police officials gave 112 recommendations to the citizens who contacted them via the anonymous and free Crime-Stoppers telephone number - 080 020 505.
