Cooperation between SIPA and College “Logos Centar” Mostar Started

In accordance with the Cooperation Agreement signed between the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) and College “Logos Centar” Mostar, SIPA Spokesperson Kristina Jozić, who is also a gender equality contact in SIPA and active member of Association “Police Women’s Network”, delivered a lecture on “Representation of Women in B&H Police Structures” in this educational institution, on Saturday (14/5/2016).

The first and fourth-year students majoring in “Security” were introduced the basic concepts important for understanding the issue of gender equality (sex, gender, stereotypes, etc.), international and national legal framework governing this field as well as some specific issues concerning the representation of women in the police structures of B&H, as well as current situation, actions taken, etc.

Given that women police officials are underrepresented in the police authorities at all levels in B&H, particularly in decision-making and high-ranking positions, there was also a presentation of some examples of positive practice and recommended measures to increase the number of women in police agencies in B&H particularly in managerial positions.

In this context, the activities of SIPA carried out in the previous period were presented as SIPA is a leading agency when it comes to representation of women police officials, whose number is currently 73 or 14.43% as compared to other police agencies, where percentage is between 3.33% and 8.74%, according to the latest 2015 report of the Ministry of Security.

SIPA will continue to cooperate with this and other institutions in B&H, since this Agency considers that it is very important to take part in education of future staff of B&H security structures.
