40.000 Pirated Sound and Image Carriers Seized in Herzegovina

On April 14th, 2010 police officials of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) carried out a search of 14 locations in Herzegovina area, where they found and confiscated 41,567 pirated sound and image carriers, and significant amount of equipment for the production of pirated carriers (computers, CD burners, etc.).

The action carried out upon the order of the Court of B&H, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, MOI of the West Herzegovina Canton and the Public Security Center Trebinje, involved searches of business premises and houses in Mostar, Trebinje, Posusje, Siroki Brijeg and Grude.

Most of the pirated sound and image carriers (10,280) were found in a search of a private residence in Mostar, where a computer, four CD burners, monitor, scanner, printer, processor and nine hard disks were found, among other things.

SIPA's police officials will submit to the Prosecutor's Office of B&H a report on committed criminal offence set out in the Article 243 CC B&H (Impermissible Use of Copyright) against ten individuals with whom the pirated sound and image carriers and the equipment for their production were found.

The mentioned individuals had been selling the pirated sound and image carriers at the markets and streets in Herzegovina and the M-17 main road.

SIPA's police officials will continue carrying out activities from their competence with the purpose of copyright protection.
